Career paths are often linear, but that does not have to be the case for you. If you are trying to make a career change, we hope our story can inspire you to take the leap out of your comfort zone and into your dream job. Here, Stacy Po, our avid graphic designer and brand visual creator for ITCS Group, talks about her career change in the tech industry and the essential factors to look out for in design.
Connecting design and technology
With design and technology pushing the limits of imagination, both are intertwined as they thrive on innovative thinking to solve problems and meet client needs.
“It’s interesting to be in the tech industry as I keep learning about the new solutions designed to empower people to live in a better world.”
Before stepping into design, Stacy worked in B2B marketing and had opportunities to design for different marketing mediums in the tech industry. From there, she realized the "genuine happiness and a sense of achievement" when completing her designs and furthered her study in graphic and digital design.
As marketing and design come into play, her previous marketing experiences played a vital role in her journey, shaping her skills for developing cohesive and compelling corporate brand elements. Now at ITCS Group, she merged her passion with strategic marketing, bringing her artistic vision to reality. One of Stacy's achievements at ITCS is modernizing the group's brand image, visuals, and website with a dynamic and polished look.
“From marketing to design, I learned to look at my creative journey as a chance to train my design muscles. I am very grateful for the opportunities given by my ITCS team to craft the brand style as to how I envision and approach it.”
More than aesthetics
As people are visual learners, Stacy hopes that her designs are clean, modern, consistent, and engaging to the viewers and convey a clear meaning without second-guessing.
“Design to me is problem-solving and strategic, not just for artistic expression. If my designs can help stimulate potential customers’ interests and gain their trust, leading to a conversion funnel, I would consider my designs successful for that goal.”
A driving force behind conversions and the visual connector between businesses and their audience, design is more than what meets the eye; it’s a method of communication and storytelling.
Giving a voice through design
For new designers trying to transition into the tech community, Stacy advises to take time for inspiration and emphasizes that it is crucial to be flexible and curious to keep up with the latest technology and trends.
"Try to be as flexible as possible to adopt new trends, as the tech industry is ever-changing with up-and-coming solutions."
A worthwhile career switch may seem challenging to take the first step, but with hard work and dedication, you can embrace your passion at any stage in life. Your past doesn't have to dictate your future - take the plunge and the reins of your career today.
