Women in Tech: Empowering Designers in IT

It’s no secret that the technology sector is booming and that females in the stated industry are far less than their male counterparts. However, women in tech have been gaining momentum lately due to their increased presence in the field. As we want to shed more light on this crucial topic, our series “Women in Tech” highlights our positivity, inclusivity, diversity, and support for women empowerment in technology.

In the first part of this series, we are thrilled to introduce Charlotte Boisdequin, our passionate graphic and web designer. Born and raised in Belgium, she is currently based in our Japan office – her exposure to multicultural experiences has brought an intriguing aspect and flair to our organization.

Designer at heart

An artistic prodigy, Charlotte’s family used to call her “the artist” during her childhood – she was immersed in the world of art and piano. As her creative spirit and passion for the arts have amplified throughout the years, she decided to pursue her path in Graphic and Visual Communication.

Her specialization lies in print as she worked on a variety of designs on flyers, brochures, posters, magazines, and web design and employed her expertise at an international creative agency in Japan for three years.

“I am really grateful for the team there, which help me grow as a designer. As I wanted to focus more on web design, I decided that it was time to move on to my next journey at ITCS."

Striding into Tech

A new face in the IT industry, Charlotte had the opportunity to work for a number of clients operating in different sectors, from designing a logo for a Japanese primary school to creating a brochure for a multinational corporation. But at ITCS, she has been working in-house, meaning working on a specific industry and products at all times, and her current focus is our all-in-one cloud office solution AnyWare.

“Working in-house requires you to truly have a deeper understanding of the product and its culture than if you were a freelance working outside the company.”

In her first month, Charlotte has already created AnyWare’s new empowering logo, and we have shared her inspiration behind the concept.

Voicing female empowerment

About the voices of Women in Tech, she adds that “In my experience, most of the companies I was working with were having women in a design leadership position, and they were my role models, helping me become the designer I am today”.

Shifting to how to help female designers progress in the tech and design industry, Charlotte emphasizes that “You need to be curious, I know that it can be really daunting to be one of the only women”.

“I highly encourage you to be confident in yourself and design choices, as you are qualified as anyone else, so don’t underestimate your expertise. But it is also important to learn to take criticisms to grow into a stronger designer.”
